Leaked : PSP GO is a Go!

Good morning!  So I woke up this morning and found that I had apparently missed a juicy morsel of news regarding this year’s E3.  It would seem images and video of Sony’s new PSP the PSP GO have been leaked online. If you head over to The Portable Gamer you can read more.  Highlights include:

  • 16GB internal flash memory
  • NO UMD drive
  • Bluetooth support
  • Pure digital delivery of content including movies, music, and games
  • Not-so-unique slider design
  • 43% lighter than PSP-3000 model
  • New Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid titles forthcoming

Oh yeah, and the video already hit YouTubes so check it out below!

Mac Noob Part 2: Homie Don’t Right Click

Homie Don't Right-Click!Why yes, that is a Jinx reference, thank you for noticing!  A couple of weeks ago I started this series that is aimed only at noobs unfamiliar with the Mac.  I was going to post my first impressions of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, but since I’m working on a few other posts right now I figured I’d save that for later this week after I’ve spent more time with it. Now, down to business for this quasi-instructional post.

Waiting at the Apple Store

Classic Apple

This is just a quick post as I sit here at the Apple store waiting for my appointment at the Genius bar. I mentioned the other day that I’d picked up a MacBook, but I didn’t mention that I bought it used. The guy I bought it from was a super nice guy and the laptop is for all intents and purposes in great shape from a functionality standpoint. I’m only a little concerned about some discoloration on the case that apparently plagued the first run of MacBooks. From what I’ve read online Apple is replacing these cases for free and I hope I’ve got a good shot at a replacement, especially considering I have an AppleCare warranty on it. Either way, I just figured I’d write this as a precursor to a post titled either A) ‘Apple is Awesome for Fixing my MacBook’ OR B) ‘Steve Jobs Murders Puppies Atop Undeserved Piles of Money’. Stay tuned, internet!

P.S. On a side note, these Apple LED Cinema Displays are TASTY good.

Retro rant: Silent Hill Homecoming

The cover art had so much promise...

I know that it is May 28, 2009. I realize this game came out eight months ago and I am just now getting into it. I have come to terms with the fact that I don’t sound like much of a Silent Hill fan for playing it so late. My excuse is that after the first twenty minutes of playing it back in October, I absolutely couldn’t stand it. Please understand I don’t like to complain and I will not rant often, but since I’m in the middle of playing this game I figure this is a healthy (and productive, even) way of releasing my built up frustration.

My 5 Favorite Geek Movies

Crash and BurnInitially I’d drafted this post up a few weeks ago and had put it off as it proved difficult to pick only five movies that aptly portray (for better or worse) the geek stereotype without wavering into Revenge of the Nerds territory.  However, after some reflection in between passing off on Infamous with Nicole, I believe I’ve finally arrived at what are my 5 favorite geek movies.  Notice, I didn’t say the 5 greatest or 5 best geek movies; I’m fully cognizant that just because I like a film in no way means it’s a good film.  Point in case I end up watching Daredevil at least a few times each year.  So, without further adieu, I give you my 5 favorite geek movies!

Mac to School: Apple Giving Away iPod Touches

I'm FREEEEEEEEEEEEE! (In a manner of speaking and only so long as you accept the terms of the creator)I was checking out some apple sites today regarding the new MacBook I picked up yesterday and discovered that Apple has just started their back to school special.  I’ll admit I find it odd that Apple chose to do this when most students are just getting out of school, but what do I know? In a nutshell, if you’re a student and you purchase a new Mac you also receive a free iPod touch to go with your shiny new hotness.  Not a bad deal at all.  Even if you already have an iPod or an iPhone you could always give it to a friend- or your mother who went through otherworldly pain to give birth to you and put you through college, you bum.  Head on over to Apple to read read the fine print.

Experiencing and Anticipating “The Sims 3″

The new "Sims" logo, in all its gloryOn Sunday Josh and I drove over to Easton to enjoy the weather, the food, and for him, the Apple Store. I was pleasantly surprised however to find that they offered a demo of The Sims 3, the newest rendition of The Sims franchise. Although it didn’t allow gameplay, I did get to experience exactly what making a Sim character would be like in the newest version of the number one selling PC game of all time.

3 Webcomics I Read Regularly

I was sitting here thinking about what I should write on tonight and it occurred to me that I haven’t written a heckuvalot on comics yet. Amidst my general surfing and trying to discern the meaning of the universe, I found myself wandering through the archives of some of my favorite web comics and figured now’s as good a time as any to do a post on my favorites. So, below I’ll let you know where I burn away my work da-er, after-work recreational time!

2PStart!

2PSTART!

Tim Harding and Ray Hargreaves work collaboratively on each new comic which is regularly posted on Wednesdays with a Podcast on Mondays.  I confess I’ve yet to listen to their podcast (shame on me considering our domain name and all) but their comics usually target whatever the latest gaming debacle is and I really dig the art style.

Cyanide and Happiness

crappycomic

Cyanide & Happiness has been around since 2004 (Yes, I looked that up on WikiPedia- I never said I was a connoisseur!) and features a new comic nearly every day.  I tend to like them as they’re quick, to the point and their often brutal sense of humor is completely uncompromising.

Penny Arcade

I’ve read Penny Arcade for a long time and also made sure to pick up the books they’ve published with their comics neatly separated into the year they were released.  In addition to being fun and relevant to read for gamers, Mike and Jerry seem to be really great guys who stay humble about what they do, even starting their own charity to provide toys and games to patients in children’s hospitals.  Penny Arcade is updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with a few exceptions here and there. Mike’s art is vibrant and distinct and harmonizes beautifully with Jerry’s writing.  It tends to also focus on current events in the gaming industry and plenty of frustrations that gamers contend with on a regular basis.

So there you have it- my favorite webcomics complete with tasty hyperlinks to get you there safely.  Be sure to check them out when you get a chance!

Infamous Demo Impressions

It's electric!Having complained on our last podcast about Sony’s lack of exclusive games, Nicole and I had the good fortune to check out a demo of Infamous
before its released this Tuesday. While at first I was a bit skeptical, I walked away from the game yearning for more and was disappointed I couldn’t pick it up today. Hit the jump for 5 of  my initial impressions of the demo.

GeeksPodcast Episode 2: Munchkins and Terminators

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!  Nicole and I just wrapped recording episode 2, which you can listen to below.  On this episode we cover the boardgame, Munchkin, as well as talk about Terminator: Salvation, Punch-Out!!, and rumors of a new slim PS3.  Thanks for listening and as always, your feedback is appreciated!  Unless it’s bad, in which case just keep that to yourself.
