If we’re a little slow bringing you the latest and greatest on video games this month, it’s because August is officially the slowest month of the year for new releases. This could be for a number of reasons:
1.) Lots of families are going on vacation before school starts. No time to play when you’re sailing in Panama.
2.) Kids go back to school at the end of the month, and once this happens you’ll see the amount of daytime customers drop pretty drastically.
3.) Madden 20-whatever is coming out, and nobody wants to compete with it. It is always a top seller, if you can believe it after seeing dozens upon dozens lining your local game store a few months later.
4.) It’s one of the last months of consistent good weather for us mid-western/northern states. People want to be outside while they still can!
So if we lag on the video game chatter for a bit, it’s not because we have lost interest in gaming (quite the contrary: we’re drooling for Arkham Asylum in September); it’s because it’s summer break for game developers, too.
