Disney Acquires Marvel

So as I’m sure most of the comic community and a few of you movie lovers have heard, Disney has acquired Marvel for a measly little $4 billion dollars.  I suppose I like to imagine that in some comical (get it?) fashion, Scrooge McDuck himself handed over a ridiculously large check to Stan Lee just before going in for a nice swim in his seemingly endless money pool.  However, this time instead of gleefully diving about between diamond rings, gold pieces, and $100 bills, I picture him furiously drowning Spider-man with his bare uh, duck hands before taking a gigantic McDump all over the hopes and dreams of Marvel fans everywhere who’d waited for decades for their favorite comics make it to the silver screen.   Anyways, I’m bad at analogies, the point is while it’s too early to tell at this stage whether or not Disney will begin raping our favorite franchises, the news is still…unsettling.

I'm not a big fan of comics really at all but the movies are always fun to watch so this story is more like sticker shock than a disappointment for me. I'm surprised Disney would spend that kind of money on Marvel. I wonder how many years it will take to see a Return on Investment for something like that. 50 years?

I loved the analogy! In my mind I can't un-see it! At least we still have DC, Image, and Dark Horse; among others. Time will tell as to if Disney screws the Goofey (what is he, a dog or a horse or what?) or lets Marvel continue rockin' on the big screen and most importantly in print.

@azazel Yeah, I was pretty tired and that was all I could come up with :p However, while I haven't researched this completely I'm relatively certain that real ducks do not have hands. On a side note, the first time I find a Wolverine/Aladdin crossover comic I'm going to gouge my eyes out with a dull butter knife.
