Many Expect a Price Drop on the Wii

Hard to believe it's been out since 2006.Rumors are swirling about that on Sunday, September 27th, consumers across the nation will be able to pick a Nintendo Wii up for the new low price of $199.99 as opposed to $249.99. Perhaps it’s because Sony and Microsoft just slashed their platforms’ prices, or maybe it’s because it’s about freakin’ time they dropped the price of the Wii (it’s been three years!). Either way, it will be interesting to see the competition begin again between the three as we inch closer and closer to the Christmas season. We’ll keep you up to date on the official word!

Thoughts on The Beatles: Rock Band

I wanna hold your hand...So while Nicole and I were at Myrtle Beach The Beatles: Rock Band made its debut without us.  Nicole was positively rabid about playing it and I had high hopes for the game after reading interviews and updates for months about all of the care that had gone into preserving it as a grand entry into The Beatles legacy.  So, as soon as we got back we ran down to Gamestop and picked up our pre-order.  While I can’t speak for Nicole, here are 5 observations about The Beatles: Rock Band.

Review: 9

99 is the latest outing from Tim Burton, though he only served as producer with director Shane Acker at the helm.  It features an all star cast as well, including Martin Landau, Jennifer Connelly, Elijah Wood, Crispin Glover, John C. Reilly and Christopher Plummer all lending their voice talent to this tale of a dead scientist’s last effort to restore the spirit of humanity to a world that is ultimately broken and destroyed by his penultimate creation, AI that has turned on us all.  However, can the spirit of humanity imbued within his tiny, sock-puppet like creation, 9, be enough to redeem mankind?

Silent Hill 2 the movie is in the making

Don't ruin him this time... please...Yesterday it was officially announced that Silent Hill 2 the movie has been given the green light. Screenwriter Roger Avary and producer Samuel Hadida, both who were on board for the first movie in 2006, are signed up to be involved in this flick, too. They will begin production after they’re finished with Resident Evil 4 in 2010. As of right now there is rumor going around that actor Sean Bean, who played the husband in the first Silent Hill movie, will be the lead character in the sequel. The coolest part? He’s on a mission to find his wife somewhere within Silent Hill. Not exactly accurate, but it still fits in very nicely with the game and the movie. Josh and I are avid Silent Hill fans so as soon as updates are out, you can bet we’ll be covering them.

Back from South Carolina

Your hosts, attempting to lay in a hammock.

If you’re completely out of the loop, Joshua and I took a trip with his parents to Myrtle Beach for the last week and a half. A couple of family friends were there too, as well as a total of seven computers. We managed to fit a whole lot of everything into those ten days, like magnificent dining at a wide variety of restaurants (check out Drunken Jack’s and Benjamin’s Calabash Seafood), entertainment (Ripley’s Mirror Maze, Medieval Times) and quality beach time. We’ll probably chat about our vacation for a bit on the podcast when we do it this week sometime.

So yesterday we got back into Dublin around 3:00 and like a good geek girl the first thing I did was run over to Gamestop and pick The Beatles: Rock Band up (we’ll save this topic for our podcast, as there is MUCH to talk about). But bottom line, our trip was just the break we needed, we arrived and returned safely, and we are back to our regularly scheduled program. Enjoy!

The Absence Explained

Travelling in style! So Nicole and I haven’t been posting for the past few days because we’ve gone and taken a vacation at Myrtle Beach.  Initially, we said we’d post here every day we were on vacation, but then realized that we needed a full-blown period of relaxation, even from GeeksPodcast.  So, later tonight I’ll add some pictures of Nicole and I running around North Myrtle and we may post a video or two, but that’ll be it for now. Come Sunday however, we will resume our regularly scheduled programming bringing you our witty banter and the latest news on all things geek.

Checking out the Roomba 530

So Nicole and I were ecstatic to see that our Roomba 530 arrived yesterday courtesy of the fine people over at http://www.woot.com.  Rather than go into a lengthy review in text, we figured we’d just show you a little bit of the unboxing, startup, and operation of the little guy.  We also couldn’t fight the urge to goof off a bit too so enjoy!

Top Five Gamer Girl Frustrations

Rosie would definitely be a gamer.Gamer girls all have their story about how they got into games and why they still play them, and I guess mine is that I was an only child raised to like everything. My parents wanted me to try a bit of everything to get an idea of what I liked, even if it was boys’ toys or football. I had an enormous amount of Barbies, Polly Pockets and girly girl friends, but also sitting near my bunkbed was my Sega Pico and my Nintendo 64.  When I wasn’t glued to the systems in my own room I was at my friend Jessica’s house playing her brother’s NES or at Erica’s house playing her brother’s SNES. Then came PC gaming, then the PlayStation, then Gamecube, PS2, and etcetera. Games are fun and I’m proud to be a gamer of the female variety, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t come without its frustrations. I hope I represent the gamer girl community well when I discuss some of these facepalm moments.
