3 Defeats for my Mill-ish Blue/Black Deck

Tonight was not fun in any way.  In fact, Jon wiped the floor with me to the point of frustration for three straight games of Magic.  However, I should point out that he barely squeaked by on a couple of those victories.  I still have faith in the deck, but let’s take a look at what the primary cards are that I’m using to capture that elusive win.

Traumatize

It’s a dick card to be sure, forcing your opponent to discard half  of their library.  Of course, while it is fun to play, it can certainly backfire.  Such was almost the case tonight as I hadn’t anticipated that Jon would have a card in his deck that dealt 1 damage to me every time a card went into his graveyard.  Which, yes, that means after the first 25 card Traumatize I would have effectively murdered myself.  Thankfully that wasn’t the case though.

Returning to WoW

If any of you followed mine and Nicole’s infamous race to 80 last summer, you know that it ended pretty miserably for me.  Frankly, she cheated and clawed her way to 80 in the wee hours of the morning after tricking me into going to sleep before she did.  I’m not bitter about it…mostly, but I’m happy to report that despite the vicious whoopin’ she threw me last year I have officially re-activated my WoW account after being absent for months.

It’s not that I inherently got bored with WoW, I just didn’t have time to play it between playing a plethora of other games over the last year such as Assassin’s Creed II, Heavy Rain, Borderlands, and so on.

Will a new challenge between Nicole and I rise from the ashes that my vengance might be violently extracted?  Only time will tell, but for now I’m just happy to have my new rogue running and stabbing his way through Azeroth.

Actual Map of LOST Island

Did you ever wonder what the full island looked like geographically?  Nicole and I just finished the show in its entirety and while I was very happy with the show’s finale, there are still a bunch of unanswered questions.  Thankfully though, I never have to wonder about what the actual dimensions of the island were and where all the stations were located.  Head on over to Sci Fi Wire for more!

Red Dead Redemption’s Cougar Man!

Red Dead Redemption is an incredible game in its own right, but of course whenever you have a game this massive and of such high quality, there’s bound to be a few bugs.  Take for example the below-an unholy amalgamation of cougar and man.  It’s a deadly duo of cougar speed with man’s woeful disregard for his own safety.  But don’t take my word for it- check it out below!

Konami announces ‘Silent Hill 8′

Yesterday Konami had their press conference, and along with Metal Gear Solid: Rising (a prequel to 4 and a story centered around Raiden) and NeverDead (a new third person shooter which… I’m not sure what to make of yet), they announced Silent Hill 8. If you’ve been reading Geekspodcast for a while then you know how obsessed both of us are with this series. The newest game stars Murphy Pendleton, who from the trailer appears to be an inmate being transported between prisons. Somehow he escapes the bus and winds up in Silent Hill, and we all know what happens next. I’m pretty down about Akira Yamaoka not writing the score for this one, but I’ll take Daniel Licht, who happened to write the music for Dexter. The game will hopefully be released in 2011 sometime.
