For Christmas of ’05 I received Guitar Hero for the PS2 and since then have played the life out of those games. Ever since that first play through I have been praying for a music game that incorporated the use of a keyboard (seriously, how easy would it be?). Five years later my wish is finally coming true.
Rock Band: Green Day’s demo is up and running on Xbox Live, and apparently when you finish with it this lovely image pops up. Yay for a third Rock Band, HUGE yay for the third, new bubble with a keyboard inside.
Can you imagine the possibilities this gives us? I seriously hope we can revisit existing Rock Band songs or they come out with some amazing, keys-focused DLC. Nothing would make me happier than jamming out to “Lady Madonna” on a little keyboard attached to the television. I vow to become a goddess at this.

On Fridays I get out of Latin at 9:18 and head for Hughes Hall so I can wait in the classroom for classical music to start at 10:30. Usually I’ll play the piano, surf the internet a little, and listen to my iPod until class starts at 10:30. Today I just hung out on my laptop a little bit and instead some other kid from my class started playing the piano. He started playing really loudly so I turned up my iPod, but then I found myself listening to what he was playing more than my music: songs from different Nintendo games.
Because Nicole and I are going to podcast tomorrow and I don’t have anything terribly interesting to say, I thought I’d let you all know that Daft Punk will be in the forthcoming DJ Hero. Initially I wasn’t overly excited for this game, but their presence has certainly piqued my interest and the thought of mastering another rhythm game has more than enticed me. You can read more about it over at
So while Nicole and I were at Myrtle Beach The Beatles: Rock Band made its debut without us. Nicole was positively rabid about playing it and I had high hopes for the game after reading interviews and updates for months about all of the care that had gone into preserving it as a grand entry into The Beatles legacy. So, as soon as we got back we ran down to Gamestop and picked up our pre-order. While I can’t speak for Nicole, here are 5 observations about The Beatles: Rock Band.
The new Zune HD was officially released today with a slew of powerful new features. Is it too much like the iPod touch and iPhone? Maybe a bit, but Microsoft competes fairly well with their new toy. I’ll summarize a few points…
Today Panic! at the Disco (yes, I used the exclamation point because apparently it is back in their name) released their newest single, “New Perspective.” Although it’s on the soundtrack for a dumb movie (see Jennifer’s Body), I’m totally digging this song. If you liked Pretty.Odd. you’re in for a 360, but then again if you liked A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out you’re in for a new ride, too. To me it sounds very Third Eye Blind, which I am 100% okay with! You can read the lyrics and hear the song
So I’d never seen this before, but apparently the King of Pop was a colossal geek with a nerdgasm-worthy collection of arcade machines and other geek awesomeness. At one point nearly 2 million dollars worth of his arcade games and other memorabilia was to be auctioned off and someone made a flash panoramic view of most of MJ’s geek stuff. It’s an impressive collection to say the selection and you if you want to see how painful it is to gaze upon a collection that you’ll never, ever have you can check it out
