I am not a movie critic, but to me, a person who considers it a holiday to go to the movies, let alone 3-D, Avatar took my breath away. It was so colorful and vibrant. Yes, it was a very long movie, but I didn't even realize it until I was walking to the car because it kept my attention. I agree with you that the movie was created to "make a statement," however I feel that statement is an expression of how much of the country feels at this moment in time.
