Welcome to our Nightfall breakdowns, this is Lucas and this week I’ll try to walk you through exactly on how to master the Pyramidion Nightfall Strike this week in Destiny 2!
Before we begin, as most players are aware of, there are modifiers each week that rotate along with the Nightfall, this week we have the modifiers:
- Torrent – “Boundless power erupts from within; your abilities recharge much faster. Use them to shatter your foes.”
- Timewarp: Zero Hour – “The mission timer cannot be extended. Choose your battles carefully.”
Talking to Torrent for a moment, if you do have gear which recharges your abilities, you can use those in conjunction to boost your recharge speed even further and essentially just run through most of the Strike throwing punches or grenades. As to the Timewarp, it’s very different from last time. This week the clock starts at 22:00 and counts down with no way to boost or slow it down. This means you need to run and gun quickly but cautiously as we found out.
Getting into the Nightfall, what I recommend you do to shave off a few second is to jump onto your Sparrows and zoom to the first encounter which will be a pit full of Vex and two Vex pads which must be stood in and activated to summon the second round of Vex before moving on.
Getting up close and personal is not advised in this section as the Harpies have Arc shields and yellow health bars, if you have Coldheart, I’d recommend using it here.
Then next portion of the Nightfall will come after you traverse some corridors and come to a large room at the end of a tunnel. Here, Vex will be standing guard and get ambushed by Taken once you get close enough. THIS ROOM IS SKIPPABLE! I repeat, you can ignore the enemies here as they quarrel and allow you to almost run by unscathed. You may need to hit a few of them, toss some grenades, but you should be able to get by and into the laser portion quickly. Beware; there is a Taken Phalanx at the back side of the lasers waiting to knock you back into them, dispose of him quickly!
If you touch the lasers, you will die almost instantly. Even with an overshield, they will eat your health bar like it’s an hors d’oeuvres. Take the laser portions slow and cautious as it is hard to go back and sometimes impossible to revive fallen fireteam members if they get zapped.
In the next room you will have a small group of Vex Goblins firing off at some Taken Knights and Acolytes. Deal with the Vex quickly and then turn your attention to the Taken. You must clear this room entirely to move to the next portion. We found that utilizing your Supers here was a huge time and headache saver as they one: recharge quickly, and 2: well…recharge really quickly given that we are only just starting the Strike!
After the Taken are eliminated and I strongly suggest you start with the Hobogoblin Snipers on top of the pillars (do this for all coming sections as well, they can kill you quickly); you will have two waves of Vex to deal with before the portal in this room activates and you can move on.
Through the warp gate, you will find another corridor with more lasers. This group is more challenging as they appear and disappear in timed fashion and you must be careful not to jump into them when they are changing. I recommend you wait and watch your first time through to get their timing down.
Making the final drop in this room, you will come to a room with more enemies, horray! Again, both Vex and Taken are battling it out while you must complete an objective to make it out alive and move on with your life. There are three Vex platforms you must activate in this room to open the barrier blocking the next portal. We have found that you do not need to kill all the enemies here, just enough to get the platforms to energize to completion. Watch out as the add groups do respawn after a duration of time!
Another laser challenge comes up next and this time the lasers are moving! Time them out and make sure one person can complete this successfully to bring the respawn location to the end of the killer lightshow. There will be a middle room with Vex and Taken fighting. It is recommended you kill these groups as they will shoot you from behind if you rush into the laser whirlwinds of death. Also, another Taken Phalanx is waiting at the end to push you back into the rotating lasers, so deal with them all before moving!
Stepping into the next portal you are taken to the final room before the boss. Here, you must ‘hack’ four Vex pillars in order to activate the final portal in the back of the map. As I mentioned before, you will want to take out the snipers as quickly as possible and then deal with the rest of the enemies. You do not need to kill everything, just make sure you ‘hack’ the pillars and stay alive until your ghost is successful.
Finally moving into the final portion, there will be a large hole with Vex stationed around it…ignore them and jump in. You will not need to jump to slow down as the Vex tech does that for you and drops you on a triangular platform where you must step on the final Vex platform to summon the Genesis Mind.
He will manifest immune, so save your shots until you see his Health bar pop up above his head. After taking some damage, he will teleport to the back-left corner of the room in a shield and you will be required to take it down to attack him again. He can still shoot you however, so watch out! Additional enemies or ‘adds’ will be summoned and must be dealt with along with activating two Vex platforms flanking his shield to bring it down. This will be a rinse and repeat once he teleports to the back-right corner.
After getting this far, he will teleport to his original position and it will be a race against the clock as he is vulnerable the rest of the Strike as he summons adds, stomps around and shoots the closest Guardian. If you are lucky enough to down him, you will be rewarded for your efforts will a loot chest, a Luminous Engram from Zavala, and if in a clan, another Luminous Engram from Hawthorne.
As some side notes, I want to say a few things to keep in mind during this Strike to keep the pace going and the loot coming!
- Don’t worry about reviving your fireteam, clear the room!
- Choose a faction, you will receive faction tokens for completing Nightfalls.
- You can complete a Nightfall as many times as you like, your first run doesn’t have to be flawless.
Thanks for coming the Geeks Podcast for your Destiny 2 needs! If you notice at the end of the video, we also unlocked Rat King, an exotic hand cannon which we will post a link to here once that is live!
Stay strong Guardians!
