How to Fix XBOX ONE Error 0x80820002 – Disc Won’t Read
Have you ever rushed home with a new Xbox One game, thrilled to rip off the shrink wrap and settle in with a new game for the evening? Have you then felt that sinking feeling in your stomach after you pop the disc in only to find out that it won’t play due to a disc read error? It’s an awful feeling and errors like this continue to make a strong case for digital distribution. Today I’m going to show you how to fix Xbox One error 0x80820002 – Disc won’t read.
Fortunately, for this particular Xbox One Error 0x80820002 there’s a pretty easy fix which I demo in the video above. I ran into the same situation, pumped to play some Destiny: The Taken King and was myself presented with the dreadful 0x80820002 error but thankfully, all hope was not lost.
If you experience the Xbox One Error 0x80820002, just tilt your system back about 30 degrees and this will allow the disc-catch mechanism to function properly and you should be able to play your game. It’s a kooky fix and while the error message isn’t nearly as dreadful as ye olde red ring of death, it’s still helpful to know that there’s a quick workaround. Hopefully these errors don’t indicate a disc drive’s failure over time, but I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.
But for now? If you too are afflicted with the Xbox One Error 0x80820002 you can rest easy knowing that there’s a good chance you can get back up and gaming again.
This is a strange error and fix to say the least but hey, at least it’s not a system bricker. Have you had any other problems with the Xbox One?
