The Psychology of Darth Vader
Darth Vader is one of if not the most recognizable villain in Sci-Fi history. From the moment he first stepped onto the silver screen, he proved himself a memorable menace (though not one of the phantom variety) and solidified the Star Wars series as one of the greatest pop culture phenomenons of all time.
But while Darth Vader’s history is well known for any Star Wars fan, what’s really going on behind the mask? What were the factors at work in the psychology of Darth Vader that made him turn to the dark side and commit the atrocities he did before finally finding redemption once more?
That’s where Kyle comes in.
What makes Kyle so qualified to explore the psychology of Darth Vader? Well, being a massive Star Wars fan aside, when Kyle isn’t helping out with the podcast, he spends his days as a licensed professional counselor in the state of Ohio meaning he can legally treat and diagnose those suffering from mental disorders. These could range from mild trauma to crippling depression. Based on his expertise, we thought it would be fun for him diagnose some of our favorite heroes and villains. Being the Star Wars fan that he is, it only seemed appropriate that he’d kick off Geek Deconstructed by diving into the psychology of Darth Vader and giving us some insights into what mental ticks were behind his villainy.
This is just the first episode but he’s already planning a ton more shows including Bane, Deadpool, Scarecrow, and more!
