A Blogger Approaches!

Aside from a few guest contributions (lookin’ at you JB!), Nicole and I have been a pretty small outfit here for a while.  However, that is about to change and for the better.

Why?  Initially when Nicole and I started this site, we did so as a hobby and more for fun than anything.  However, over the past two years as we’ve grown more passionate about GeeksPodcast and making it successful, we quickly realized that having a more regular team of people working together would make it easier to manage.

As fate would have it, we were recently approached by a fellow blogger looking for a new place to call home and to publish their work.  While I’m not yet at liberty to reveal the identity of our mysterious new member, rest assured Nicole and I both are looking forward to what they bring to the table and you should too.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information about he/she who must not(yet) be named…

What Does it All MEAN?! Apple Teases iTunes Announcement

Courtesy of TUAW, it looks like Apple’s toying with us again.  An obvious frontrunner would be iOS 4.2 being released, but I’d hardly call that a day I’d ‘never forget’.  Now the release of The Beatles catalog on iTunes would certainly be momentous given their warring in the past, but I’m not holding my breath on that one.  Cloud storage?  Possibly, but that seems like an awfully big development to simply be teased the day before launch.  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

What do you think Apple is planning?

Nintendo 3DS Dated for March 2011

Gamespot is reporting that the Nintendo 3DS will be launching in Japan in February 2011 for ¥25,000 ($299) and will follow in North America and Europe in March, though no price has been announced for those regions.

In case you’ve been living under a rock since its E3 announcement, the 3DS aims to deliver true 3D images jumping off of the screen at you without the need for glasses.  Because I’m not important enough to warrant an E3 invite, I can’t say how effective it is, but more distinguished journalists have been very pleased with it indeed.

I’m excited about this for sure, especially given the ridiculous number of games coming out for it including Metal Gear Solid 3, Starfox, a remake of Ocarina of Time and so forth.

However, excited as I am I really hope the price point isn’t $300.  I love handheld gaming and all, but that’s pushing my limits a bit considering I could get one of those sexy new 360s for that amount.  I  guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

7 iPhone OS 4.0 Features Revealed

A couple of days ago I made some predictions surrounding what Apple would be announcing for its latest version of the iPhone OS 4.0.  Not to toot my own horn, but I was right on more than a few of them (including my prediction that Jobs would wear a turtleneck were he in attendance).  So let’s get right to it and take a look at the 7 announcements regarding the latest iPhone OS and how they’ll affect us as iPhone die-hards.

iPhone OS 4.0 Event Set for April 8th

Hot on the heels of the iPad release, Apple has revealed that they’ll be making an announcement this week regarding iPhone OS 4.0.  While not much more information has come forth beyond that, I’m going to go ahead and make a handful of predictions regarding the event:

  • A release date will be announced (hopefully)
  • Support for at least some form of multi-tasking will be announced
  • A more customizable and useful unlock screen will be added
  • A slicker interface with better app management will be made available (Because Lord knows we need it)
  • Sharing of data between apps will be possible (albeit with limitations)
  • Better Exchange support will be made available
  • If Jobs is present, he’ll be wearing jeans and a turtleneck

Some of these are obviously a given, but I’m totally pumped to see what type of upgrades will be ready for my iPhone hopefully sometime this summer.  What features are you anticipating?
