Nicole: 1, Joshua: 0

/winkYesterday Joshua and I released the results of the World of Warcraft competition. If for some reason your  computer wasn’t playing our podcast (there really isn’t any other reason you wouldn’t have listened to it), you would have found out I was the victor. It was a very close race the entire way through, and I do give many kudos to Joshua for catching up three levels and even surpassing me most of the time. You may be wondering how in the world this could have happened, considering Joshua’s dedication, diligence, and use of robots.  I’m here to list a few details why the race was so close and why I ultimately dinged before him.

Episode 10: One Shall Rise, One Shall Fall

5 Quick Observations on WoW

murloc

Today I was debating with my friend Jeff about why World of Warcraft is a masterpiece not just as a game, but as an experience.  In typical Jeff fashion he took the role of devil’s advocate and in typical me fashion I fell into it vehemently defending my addic-er, passion.  After some consideration, rather than launch into another post about the competition between Nicole and I (which I’m killing by the way), I thought I’d just  list 5 of the reasons I enjoy the game in general and what brought me to it in the beginning.

Why Joshua Might (but Probably Won’t) Win

Josh is a pretty sneaky dude, you never know what he's up to...Day 11: I must admit, Joshua has unpleasantly surprised me with his progress in trying to beat me in our WoW competition. I’m finding it rather hard to keep ahead of him, as he is giving me competition I did not expect. And while I’m at it, I will also admit, he hit 60 about twenty minutes before I did, winning the unofficial bronze trophy in our race. I am now ahead of him again, but for a short period of time he managed to sneak past me in level… and I’m the rogue! So now I am finding I need to rely on my pure gamer instincts to get me ahead in this race. In my moments of weakness, however, I started to lose sight and think about all of the reasons Josh may actually win the race to 80. Here are five of them.

Weekend WoW Update

WoWSo I’m laying here trying to watch LOTR with Nicole and she’s wrapping up her auctions on my laptop.  We’re just about neck-and-neck currently with her just barely into 62 while I’m nearly out of 61 territory.  I’m sure she’ll give you the run-down later, but I did end up beating her to level 60 and promptly went out to grab my epic mount.  Right now we’re fighting for domination in Outland, glaring at each other as we cross paths to and from the next quest.  She’s a tough customer to be sure, but it’s been a lot of fun maintaining this coopetition of sorts.

Besides playing WoW, we’re also putting together notes for the show we’re recording tomorrow and hope you’ll check it out. We’ll probably have a new geek of the week ready and talk about our first video post we did the other day as well as whatever else I can find that’s interesting online.  Well, that’s all for now.  Goodnight internets!

Why Nicole’s End Will be Swift and Humiliating

Go on brush your shoulder offOh my, it would appear the gauntlet has been thrown down and with vigor!  But am I stressed?  Nay.  Why, do you ask? She may be a rogue, but she vastly underestimates my commitment to undermining her progress. This isn’t about who can play more World of Warcraft, but rather a cutthroat battle of wits where the engagement is taken far beyond the borders or Azeroth…

Read on for the 5 reasons I will thump Nicole in the to rush to level 80.

This ain’t a scene, it’s an arms race

ISheesh... can't even focus for a second. :Pt all started a couple of weekends ago when Jon came to stay with Joshua and I. Jon brought his laptop so he could play World of Warcraft if we decided to watch a movie or do something he wasn’t equally as interested in. What ended up happening however, is that Joshua and I reactivated our World of Warcraft accounts and the three of us played for a few hours together on Sunday. Since then, I have been leveling my rogue at a steady pace while Joshua has been struggling to keep up with his silly paladin. This poor boy is now under the assumption that somehow he will rise above me in level, surpassing my character in every regard. This won’t happen obviously, and here are five reasons why.
