During E3 this year we all learned about Nintendo’s newest handheld. However, hyping it even more was this hilarious commercial featuring the top brass at Nintendo in their interaction with the 3DS!

E3 is Super Exciting

Konami announces ‘Silent Hill 8′
Yesterday Konami had their press conference, and along with Metal Gear Solid: Rising (a prequel to 4 and a story centered around Raiden) and NeverDead (a new third person shooter which… I’m not sure what to make of yet), they announced Silent Hill 8. If you’ve been reading Geekspodcast for a while then you know how obsessed both of us are with this series. The newest game stars Murphy Pendleton, who from the trailer appears to be an inmate being transported between prisons. Somehow he escapes the bus and winds up in Silent Hill, and we all know what happens next. I’m pretty down about Akira Yamaoka not writing the score for this one, but I’ll take Daniel Licht, who happened to write the music for Dexter. The game will hopefully be released in 2011 sometime.
GeeksPodcast Episode 4: E3 2009
Good evening boys and girls! Nicole and I just wrapped episode 4 and it’s live now for your listening pleasure. We mainly talk about everything that happened this past week at E3 and I also explain my brief hiatus to celebrate my birthday. Speaking of which, I’ll be sure to post some pictures tomorrow of the nerdiest wine charms you’ll ever see- but for now? I’ve gotta go watch Simon Pegg in Spaced- another awesome birthday gift. 5 Things I Wish I’d Seen at E3
As I mentioned before, Nicole and I will be re-capping everything we found awesome about this year’s E3 on tomorrow night’s show, but I’d like to talk a little bit about what should have been at E3. 2009 was a return to form from the bastardized E3 we suffered some years ago, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that the following should’ve made a grand appearance to really push the show over the top.
E3 ’09: Microsoft Press Conference Highlights
I’ll be honest with you, I’m technically impartial to all systems, though I do tend to prefer the 360 as Nicole and I have a supreme appreciation for achievement points. Bearing that in mind, I was most interested to see if Microsoft would unveil anything noteworthy at today’s press conference and boy, did they deliver. Some of their offerings piqued my interest more than others, but generally speaking it was a much stronger show than last year and there’s a lot to take in here. Read on for a nearly complete list of what I felt were the high points of the show today.
Starting off they spoke a bit about The Beatles Rock Band, which I confess, I couldn’t stream the video fast enough to check out, but I’m sure you can find it on YouTube shortly. You can also watch a great trailer for it over at the official website here. I’ll admit, I was skeptical about this title at first, but after seeing the trailer I know I won’t have a choice in the matter. The visuals look bright and colorful and gameplay appears to revolve around The Beetles in their various incarnations through the years. The character models look spot-on and I’m sure this will end up being a big seller to those that are rhythm-game inclined (or rabid Beatles fans) This isn’t exclusive to the 360 though, and should also satisfy all of you Sony fanboys out there whenever it debuts this September.
E3 Coverage Starts Today, Kids!
This is just a friendly reminder that Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo will be delivering their press conferences today and that we should all stop what we’re doing to watch the big three duke it out through pie graphs, exclusive titles, and good old fashioned mud-slinging. Microsoft’s up to bat first about 3 hours from now, but you can check out the live coverage courtesy of G4 with all of their fancy-pants HD cameras and incredible budget for bandwidth.
Nicole and I are far from journalists, but over the next few days we’ll try to post about some of the highlights to whet your appetite. Personally, I’m looking forward to rumors of a new Halo on the way as well as the new games coming out from Hideo Kojima. What are you looking forward to?
