Tonight Josh and I have decided to embark on the most epic event ever created: one of Columbus’ Zombie Pub Crawls. However, I chose to be different and be the zombie hunter rather than the zombie. I present Zoey from Left 4 Dead! I was only given 2 hours to make this work, so it’s not as awesome as it could be, but a better one is definitely on its way. Maybe Halloween next year? Two Days Until ‘The Passing’!
So it was finally announced: the new L4D2 DLC ‘The Passing’ is going to be released on Thursday, April 22. Although its a few weeks after they initially said, I won’t be complaining because the additions sound incredible! Check it out:
- play time with three of the original survivors
- new weapons, including a golf club and an M60 machine gun
- new survival and scavenge maps
- the “Fallen Survivor” (an uncommon common infected)
…and more, which you can check out here. To recap, “The Passing” receives its name because you play with only three out of four of the original survivors. New DLC will also be released for the original Left 4 Dead, which will explain which survivor sacrifices their life for the lives of his or her fellow survivors. I have an inkling that it won’t be Zoey or Francis, since Valve employee Chet Faliszek made mention of their interaction with the new survivors. Looks like we may be down to Louis or Bill! Guess we’ll have to wait until Thursday to find out.
‘The Passing’ will be available for free for PC users and 560 MS points for Xbox Live players.
L4D and The Passing: Someone Will Die?!
A couple of days ago Valve announced the tagline for the newest piece of DLC coming out for Left 4 Dead 2: “Nobody Lives Forever.” So we already knew the original survivors were going to be joining the new ones in Left 4 Dead 2‘s new DLC, ‘The Passing’, but Chet Faliszek of Valve spilled that one of the original four would have to make the ultimate sacrifice for the good of the team at the end of the campaign. So who will it be?! There is much speculation being tossed around (some of it racist, some of it sexist), but in the end we’ll just have to wait until a more solid release date is announced.
‘The Passing’ will be a three-part long campaign that takes place between ‘Dead Center’ and ‘Dark Carnival’. It’ll also feature a new kind of uncommon infected, known as the “Fallen Survivor”, who, once killed, can supply the team with ammunition and medical supplies.
Valve also plans on releasing a piece of DLC for the original L4D detailing how the original survivors got to the south in the first place. So far it’s rumored to come out about a month after ‘The Passing’. More info soon!
Left 4 Dead De-Make
In all truthfulness I stole this post from Joshua, but my defense is that I did it because I love Left 4 Dead more. I love it so much, that I would be willing to do anything to get my hands on a copy of this game: a Left 4 Dead de-make for the NES. You can read the full story here while I play some 360 Left 4 Dead to prepare for this fantastic moment in history.
Valve Announces L4D2 DLC
Wondering why the title is about L4D2 but our picture features the original four survivors? If you’ve connected the dots, you’re probably experiencing the same euphoria I am. New DLC for L4D2 is going to feature Zoey, Francis, Bill and Louis! Set shortly after the events of the “Dead Center” campaign, “The Passing” campaign will be released in the spring of 2010. Although you still play as the new characters, your group of survivors manage to run into the L4D set and the eight of you will fight through to the highway section of the “Dark Carnival” campaign. This DLC will also feature new survivor/scavenge/versus mode maps, a new type of Uncommon infected, new melee weapons and firearms, and even a new type of co-op play! An official date will be announced shortly.
My Left 4 Dead Back Hand
So, a couple of weeks ago I had promised that if I got at least 10 comments on a post I did about rampant Left 4 Dead fanaticism that I would have Nicole draw the hand on my back in marker. Well, suffice it to say she was more than excited at the prospect and tonight she did just that. I have to say she did a pretty amazing job! I did get some questionable suggestions for alterations from comments on my blog over at Destructoid, but I (conveniently) forgot them entirely before she got to work.
I sat backward on a chair in the basement playing Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and well, she went to work creating this. So enjoy having fun at my expense and if I get at least 10 comments on this post, Nicole has agreed to let me draw the Left 4 Dead 2 hand on her back for your amusement (and my vengeance).
Think You’re a Huge Left 4 Dead Fan?
Well, you’d be completely wrong because these people are effing hardcore. Seriously, look at that guy’s arm over there on the left. That sh*t will be there forever (4ever?). Anyways, since Nicole’s already beat the pants off of Borderlands and has moved on to L4D2, I figured this post would be more aimed at her than anyone. While I wouldn’t be ballsy enough to get a tattoo of a zombie corpse hand on my arm, if I find that at least 10 people comment on this post I will have Nicole draw the hand in sharpie on my back for absolutely no reason. Check out a freakish amount of other examples of die-hard fanboy/girlism at this post over at hawtymcbloggy.
Update: When I said I would have Nicole draw the hand in sharpie on my back for 10 comments, I didn’t think some of you would organize to try and make this a reality! After deliberation, I’ve decided that since 10 comments (at least for now) looks inevitable, for every additional 10 comments I will double the size of the faux-tattooed corpse hand. On a side note, I fear that all of you hate me. That is all.
