Can you believe it? It’s already been ten years since Rare’s highly popular Perfect Dark came out for the Nintendo 64. To celebrate, XBLA released an new and improved version that you can buy for 800 MS Points (roughly $10.00). The port features new and improved graphics (obviously; now you can get a more clear view at how smokin’ Joanna Dark is), unlockable Goldeneye 007 weapons, 4-player splitscreen and up to 12-players online. Although critics are hitting it for poor dialogue and calling it ‘campy’ at times, Perfect Dark on the Arcade is exactly what a revival game should be: for the fans.

A Revival?!
Everybody remembers 90′s Nickelodeon: the good ol’ days of Ren and Stimpy, Salute Your Shorts, Doug, and of course the game shows every kid would have emptied their piggy banks to be on: Legends of the Hidden Temple, What Would You Do, Guts… the list goes on. Sadly those days are over and Nick has replaced them with garbage like iCarly and Back at the Barnyard. But as of last year (and I had no idea this was on) Nick revived the old game show Guts, proving they’re capable of redeeming themselves afterall! The name has been changed to My Family’s Got GUTS, but the idea is the same: it is still a tournament between families, starting with 12 and through preliminaries crunching that number down to six and then three for the final episode. This time instead of points determining who wins, they rely on each family’s time, which will give them that much more of a headstart in the next round (for finals). Fortunately there is still an “Aggro Crag” at the end of the tournament – that 20-foot mountain that families climb as fast as they can to be the first to hit the victory button on top. This version even has a dude host with a Australian referee co-host, which is sort of like 90′s host Mike O’Malley and his British referee, Moira “Mo” Quirk (I’m trying to make connections here).
The show is currently on a hiatus but still has the green light for more episodes, and today I’m ordering cable so Joshua and I can watch it.
