I’m blogging this from my iPhone because my Dad’s on my machine playing WoW at the moment. Much as I’d love to talk about WoW in this post I just wanted to say quickly that more posts are coming, but with family in for Nicole’s graduation ceremony tomorrow (I’m exCEEDINGLY proud of her, btw) it’s been a bit hectic. So, stay tuned and we should be back on course soon!

Back to School, Back to School…
Dear fellow readers,
September 23rd marked my first day back to school. Along with the usual geekology stuff I read up about on a day to day basis, I will also be needing to read about how to speak/write/read Latin, the world of classical music and psychology and its role in our US law. Although there are many activities competing for my time, you’ll be happy to find Geekspodcast.com still sitting there at the top, inches away from my seemingly useless college work. Bottom line, no worries! If it’s crunch time with finals, my lovely co-host Joshua will take one for the team and post something to get you guys the DL on our precious geek culture.
If this news is just too upsetting, tell us and I will immediately drop out and inevitably live behind Target for the rest of my life. Your readership means that much to me! Just remember to bring me something to eat every now and then.
Sincerely and with lots of geek love,
Nicole
OSU is going mobile
The Ohio State University home page has a variety of news tidbits flash across it each quarter, and this quarter one really caught my eye: there is now an OSU app for iPhones and other smart phones that students (see: freshman) can use to help them discover campus. Apparently “m.osu.edu” is like a mobile Buckeye Link: you can check out academic stuff, research, athletics, maps of the campus, places to eat, and so on. Also on this new application are features like where the bus stops are and where the buses are currently en route, quick access to social media, where you can find wireless internet and the locations of interest like the Thompson Library and Mirror Lake, and a search feature that will instantly allow you to find professors’ emails and email them. For anyone above a rank one, this is probably minimally helpful, but it’s still neat to see my school, the biggest school in the country, to finally create an app. Learn more about m.osu.edu here.
