R.I.P. PSPgo

Kotaku reported today that it looks like the PSPgo is going the way of the N-Gage and has been officially declared dead.  Sony is discontinuing it in favor of focusing on the forthcoming NGP.

Personally I never had any interest in the PSPgo.  That’s not to say I didn’t love a lot of the games for the PSP when I had one because there were some real gems, but sexy as this unit was I think it was too underpowered and overambitious for its time.  While digital distribution is the inevitable end-game for video game purchasing, we’re not quite there yet and the high price point for the PSPgo and its games made it a hard purchase to justify for many gamers.

Thankfully, the original PSP is still in production but I seriously doubt too many tears will be shed for its stylish big brother.
