Sherlock the Series

I was reading a blog post that I somehow stumbled upon and on an unrelated note the author had mentioned watching Sherlock on the BBC.  I hadn’t heard about this series at all but love the character and also very much enjoyed the movie last year starring Robert Downey Jr.  Having now watched the first episode I can definitely say it’s worth checking it out.

It’s a present-day version of the classic character and while the pilot’s a bit lengthy (nearly 1 and 1/2 hours) it does a fantastic job of setting up many of the characters from the Holmes universe. If you have the means and, ahem, if you have the internet then yes, you certainly DO then you’d be doing yourself a disservice not to give this a shot.  I was apprehensive about the actor playing Sherlock but by the end of the episode I couldn’t help but enjoy his performance.  The writing is good, the dialog strong, and it’s a fun new twist on an old favorite.
